Do you know how to handle your child’s tantrums?

Tantrums are a common act in children of different ages, even some studies determine that even in adulthood can have tantrums. In some children, it is more common than in others, but what matters is how we deal with this behavior in the best way, being a wise parent and not letting the little ones take control of the situation.

What to do in front of a tantrum?

Prevent getting to anger: commonly, the reason for one of the tantrums is that the child wants something that cannot, therefore, a good strategy is to shift attention from that which you cannot have to something that you can, this will immediately calm you down and prevent you from having a tantrum.

Diffuse the situation: if we know that there is a particular situation that triggers a tantrum we can try to avoid this until there’s another way to deal with it.

Keep Calm: as much as it drives us mad to see that the child has an angry behavior, It’s best not to react the same way and stay calm. If you stay calm you can find a more effective solution.

Ignoring the tantrum: if there is nothing that can endanger the child’s integrity we can ignore it completely until it passes and continue doing what.

Don’t give him what he wants: if we give in to what he’s demanding through the tantrum, the safest thing is to keep doing it every time they want something and you say no. Even if we can give him that which he is asking for the best thing is not to do.

If we follow these tips and always respond with love, we will see how their attitude will change a lot.
